DIZZINESS AND NECK PAIN

Dizziness can be quite an uncomfortable and scary sensation that we may experience.

One of the major reasons a person may experience dizziness is cervicogenic (neck related) Vertigo.

The symptoms may include dizziness especially when rising up from lying down position, turning the head suddenly, ear congestion or ear pain, neck pain and stiffness, and nausea.

A person may also feel like they are spinning, or the world is spinning around them.

This can be quite limiting in our daily functioning, also creating anxiety and fear related to that condition.

The symptoms may feel scary, and may need medical attention. However, frequently the underlying symptoms are related to the unbalanced muscles and fascia which are pulling on the cervical spine creating tension, tightness, decreased mobility, and lack of alignment.

Muscles and fascia become tight and restricted due to poor posture, habitual way of performing certain activities in daily life that we may not be aware of, past trauma, falls or car accident as well as being emotionally overwhelmed.

The effective treatment of choice would be to address the tense muscles and fascia with Myofascial Release and Manual Therapy to allow the pressure to be released from the neurological structures.

We would also teach you how to perform certain exercises at home to help the tight muscles and fascia to become more relaxed and flexible and strength the stabilization muscles of the deep neck flexors and scapular area.

If you or someone who you know is suffering from dizziness or vertigo, please do not hesitate to reach out and I would be happy to assist you with it.
