Headaches, Chronic Neck and Back Pain
I knew this was going to be different from a typical physical therapy experience, as soon as I read the questions Izabela asks as a part of her initial assessment. What activities are important to you? How is what your body is presently experiencing (in my case: pain, limitation in movement, weakness) affecting what you want to be able to do, what you value in your life? [It was] very refreshing. After talking with her on the phone, I felt her confidence and hope. Despite my negative beliefs about my ability to sustain progress, I borrowed her hope and went for it. I learned again, that we “feel” pain in many ways. It can be felt as sadness, anger, fear, etc. I say again because, although I’ve believed that we can hold emotions in our physical body, I didn’t really know how to release them in a healthful way. I’m so happy that I found someone who is not only an expert with muscles and body mechanics but also the emotional connections within those physical parts. I believe Izabela’s intention is to not only release tight muscles/fascia, but if need be, allow the body to do what it needs to do as far as the emotional aspects of one’s challenges. Izabela has also helped me by creating an individual home program that is helping empower me to continue my journey towards improved health and well-being. Again, the difference being exercises as well as suggestions for reading literature that is fitting and that will support me every step of the way. Thank you, Izabela, for your knowledge and most of all kind heart.
